In the course of studies on the synthesis of P-chiral phosphine ligands, a simple route to enantiopure DiPAMP analogues has been developed. The crystal structure of the title compound, C28H28O2P2, shows it to be the R, R enantiomer of the bisphosphine oxide, prior to reduction to the corresponding bisphosphine. This is believed to be the first example of a crystal structure of an enantiopure DiPAMPO-type compound.
