Abstract
SmI2/H2O/amine provides selective deallylation and bond cleavage of un-substituted allyl ethers, e.g. I, to give the corresponding alcs. , e.g. II, in good to excellent yields. This method is therefore useful in deprotection of alcs. and carbohydrates. [on SciFinder (R)]
