Stereospecific synthesis of b-fructofuranosides have been accomplished using the internal glycosidation approach, which was found to function as well with furanosidic systems as earlier with pyranosidic ones. These, after treatment with DMTST, yielded stereospecifically the b-fructofuranoside disaccharides, e.g. I, in good yields resp. [on SciFinder (R)]
