The synthesis of a biol. active phosphodiester, sucrose-6-yl D-glucos-2-yl phosphate, corresponding to the tentative structure first proposed for agrocinopine C, is described. The key step in the synthesis is the coupling between a protected glucos-2-yl hydrogenphosphonate and a sucrose deriv. unprotected at the 6 position.
